The Mocha Moms of Contra Costa County – West hosted their first Ulitmate Moms’ Nite Out in 2013, as a way to participate in National Moms Nite Out™. Founded in 2008, National Mom’s Nite Out™ is the first nationally organized celebration of motherhood intended to bring together today’s moms. “We created National Mom’s Nite Out because so many of today’s mothers spend Mother’s Day focused on catering to the needs of others,” said founder Maria Bailey, a mother of four. “We decided that moms deserve one night off from cooking, cleaning and responsibility and need time to celebrate motherhood with each other.” Bailey organized the first National Mom’s Nite Out after watching moms take care of everyone else on Mother’s Day, but never themselves.
The Ultimate Moms’ Nite Out focuses on renewal. This renewal will enable mothers to return to their home refreshed and recharged with the ability to re-devote themselves to selfless acts in support of their families. The Mocha Moms have been honored to host an event each year that is packed full of shopping, food and spa treats, wine tasting, and of course relaxation and ‘girlfriend’ bonding. This event is a guilt-free excuse for moms to take the night off to relax and enjoy a celebration of to honor all mothers.
About the Mocha Moms of Contra Costa County – West
Founded in August 2004, the Mocha Moms of Contra Costa County – West supports a diverse group of families with like values. We welcome mothers from Crockett,
Rodeo, Hercules, Pinole, El Sobrante, San Pablo, Richmond, El Cerrito, Kensington, Albany and Berkeley. While our chapter is based in West Contra Costa County, we have members that are from other areas of Contra Costa County as well i.e. Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Martinez and Pleasant Hill. We even have members in Fairfield and Oakland!
While many of our members have eliminated employment altogether, others work part-time, flex-time, night shifts, have home-based businesses, consult or freelance from home or have chosen alternative, less demanding career paths so that they are more available to their families. WCCMM is also open to mothers who have chosen to work outside the home and to all mothers who are raising multi-cultural children and children of color. We believe this expansion of the traditional Mocha Moms structure provides additional support for mothers who share our philosophy but who are also faced with the extra challenge of balancing a work life outside the home. We believe that mothers who are raising multi-cultural children and children of color are also part of the sisterhood we have formed.
Mocha Moms serves as an advocate for multi-cultural mothers and encourages the spirit of community activism within its membership. Mocha Moms, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Mocha Moms, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, sex, gender, socio-economic level, education, or religion. Anyone who supports the purpose of Mocha Moms, Inc. is welcome to join.
